Presidential Election in Korea

Today, December 19th, 2012 is the 18th Presidential Election here in Korea. Most companies including mine and my hubby are closed so everyone can vote. I usually sleep late at night so last night we decided to not sleep and vote early but we felt asleep at 4a.m. The election time was 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Because we slept late so we also woke up late. I woke up at noon had lunch and went out to vote. It's so easy to vote here in Korea because everyone has its own Identification Card. Just show your I.D. and voila, you're ready to vote. Here's how to vote. First, show your I.D. and they will give you your voting number. Then proceed to the next line and they will find your name and number and you will be asked to sign. Next, go to the next line and you will be given the paper where the candidates are listed. Then go to the booth and put stamp to the one that you want to vote. It doesn't matter even when you can't read. Just remember the candidates number and put stamp on it. Lastly, insert your paper in the ballot box.

We voted at 2:00p.m. and waited for the countdown on TV. After less than 4 hours, Park Geun Hye confirmed to be the President of South Korea. It's another Korean history because Park Geun Hye is 60 years old and the first woman Korean President.

Superstar K2 Winner

The Superstar K2 Winner is no other than Ho Gak. He's really good. I think he's much better than other singers. I expected him to win although I was still confused if John Park could beat him because John Park is loved by the ladies. Ho Gak is so lucky because besides from the car and money, he will also sign a contract to become a singer and this month, he's going to Macau with some other singers to perform there. I'm so happy for him. Go go go Ho Gak! Fighting!

Superstar K 2

I love Fridays but I started to love it more because I can watch my favorite cable program on TV the Superstar K 2. It's like American Idol. A singing contest for Koreans but the audition didn't only happen in Korea but also in some parts of the U.S where many koreans live there. If you remember John Park, one of the top contestants of American Idol, is now one of the top 2 of Superstar K. Next week Friday will be the most awaited day of the audiences like me specially to the Top Contestant John Park and Ho Gak. They are my favorites including Jang Jae In, but Jang Jae In was eliminated last week. I thought she would become the Superstar K 2.

Is it John Park or Ho Gak? Whoever! They are both my favorites. They both look kind and serious. They are friends and I can say that Ho Gak supported John Park a lot. I was touched last week because John Park's mom who was in the US came in Korea because of Ho Gak's help. Two weeks ago, they performed at the Navy and Ho Gak won so one of his gifts was to make a wish and it will be granted. His wish was to meet John Park and his mom. He said Koreans once met their parents but John Park couldn't meet his mom because she's in America. So last week, John Park and his mom met through Ho Gak.

From the beginning of the program, I saw how Ho Gak supported John Park. I think one of the reasons why Ho Gak is chosen by the crowd is because he's kind, gentle, and loving person. John Park also looks kind and down to earth. Besides, he's handsome that's why most of his fans are ladies. And because he has lived in America, so foreigners support him and Koreans too because he can speak English well, one the weakness of Korean ladies.

Anyway the two deserve to win but they have to choose only one. Well, can't just they share their price money 2og won (around 200,000 dollars)? How about the car? Who will bring the car? Hmmm...

Roh Moo Hyun killed himself

It has found out that Roh Moo Hyun, the Former President of South Korea killed himself. He left a message on his website Roh Moo Hyun Ui Saram Saneun Sesang (Roh Moo Hyun's Know How) thirty minutes before he went hiking. He also left a note for his family and for the people.

"I'm weak. I can't even read and write. Don't be sad. Don't feel sorry. Burn my body. Make a small tomb just near our house. It's destiny, etc.." Inspite of his bribery scandal, people still show how much they love him. The whole country is in deep sorrow because of his lost. Those who can't go to his funeral gathered together in some places to show their support and love to him. Even when you just watch on tv, you can't help but to cry.

South Korean Former President Roh Mu Hyon commits suicide

South Korea Former President Roh Mu Hyun committed suicide this morning. This shocking news woke me up this morning. I was still in bed when my hubby said that Roh Mu Hyun died so I got up and turned on the tv while hubby was reading the news on the internet. The SOuth Korean Former President went out at 5:45 to climb up the mountain in his hometown and around 6:40 he fell down (jumped down) on the rock. He was brought to the nearest hospital to get an urgent treatment then moved because his head was injured and arrived at Pusan University Hospital at 8:13 a.m. At 9:30 a.m., he was confirmed dead.

Roh Mu Hyun (Noh Moo Hyeon), South Korea President 2003-2008 loved and trusted by most Koreans. After serving his country, he moved to Bongha Village a small town in Gimhae which is near the mountain. The village became famous and lots of people visited there to see him or his house. He also helped the people improved and developed the village.


But later last month (April 30th), he was investigated in bribery scandal that surprised the whole country. He was still under investigation and don't know yet if he would be put into prison.


It wasn't confirmed if he really committed suicide but reporters, police officers and most people said that he did because of his present condition. And his words "I'm very tired", "I made people tired", "I can't read a book", etc. can tell that he really did. Besides, he also went out hiking without telling his family and he went out with his bodyguard only.
