Gochujang Village

I have mentioned here before that we went back to Sunchang Gochujang Village to buy some Deodeog and Mu u. This time we also bought gim.

As we enter the village, we see this board. That is harabuji (grandpa) running. The sign says "over 100 years old" which means the food in Sunchang is nutritious.

Sunchang called Gochujang Village because they make and sell Gochujang (red pepper paste) and different kinds of food seasoned with gochujang. Here's what we see outside the houses or stores.

It looks like this. And here's the Sunchang Gochujang that i buy in the market.

Christmas in Korea

I finally had the time to decorate my Christmas tree. I did it last Sunday. It's not too late, is it? hehehe...

Sarah, a blogger friend requested me to post something about Christmas here in Korea. I've been living here for more than 6 years now and here's what i've noticed before and during Christmas day. Of course the celebration depends on every side of the country. Here's what i can share.

How Koreans celebrate Christmas? Well, nothing special. Christmas is just like a normal holiday. If not of some Christmas lights, I can't know that Christmas is coming. I rarely hear Christmas songs, no carolings, no Christmas parties (students have), not many lanterns, and no gifts and bonus! Aiiksss.. But before Christmas eve, most people are busy buying Christmas cakes. If the malls are crowded back home, bakeries are crowded here in Korea. We see most people in the street carrying cakes.

Now it's Christmas! I live near downtown and as i look out of the window, it's very quiet. Not too many people outside. I suddenly remember what my students said when i asked them what they gonna do on Christmas day, most of them answered play computer games. No wonder why streets are not crowded on this day.

Will i do the same thing? Will i just celebrate my christmas blogging? Nope, i invited my in laws to come over to my house tonight and we're gonna have ,samgyopsal tonight! Everyone is invited, too! Will you come? hehehehe..

taps for my bathroom

When i visit others house, i always take a peep of the bathroom and the kitchen. Even when we looked for an apartment to move in, the first part of the house that i checked for was the bathroom and the kitchen. Well, i just think that they are the most important part of the house. And my hubby knows that so before we moved to our apartment that we are living now, we got the kitchen and bathroom remodelled first.

I was satisfied with our new kitchen and bathroom before, but when i saw this wonderful products for the kitchen and bathrooms, i suddenly felt dissappointed. I like the look and style of the Bathroom furnitures and Taps specially the glass waterfall basin mixer tap. I wish i could convince hubby to change ours again like what we did in our veranda. I also wish that i have a huge bathroom to put the sauna inside.

Weekend Snapshot

We went for a drive last week. There was a heavy traffic on our way home so we looked for a different way. The view was nice but after driving for a long time, we finally found out that the road we tried turned out to be a dead end.

The New South Korean President

Last Wednesday was a holiday because of presidential election. Lee Myung Bak (이명박) won as the President and he's now the new Korean President. There were 12 candidates (you read it right) and he got almost half of the voters. Before the election, i already knew that he would win because his name is very famous and he has very strong appeal to the people. Eventhough, some of the candidates are saying negatives against him but people didn't change their mind. They still supported him.

I just hope and pray that he will do his best for the country and will continue to do good work for his fellowmen.

Wish you happiness, good health and love

Last Saturday, we went back to Sunchang Gochujang Village to buy side dishes. The Mu u and deodeog that we bought was delicious so we've decided to go back there and buy again.

When we last went there, we didn't see this interesting stuff at the parking lot.

Every doors have meanings. On the left is for more babies and happiness, the one in the middle is for health and on the right is for love. Well, i couldn't understand before why the middle is not for love since it is a heart shape. But hubby told me to look well at the right one because they are organs hehehehe...

In the middle are carved woods of the couple leaning against each other. And those ribbons or paper are wishing letters that people wrote and hang which made the carved woods look wonderful.

And then we went to the restaurant to have soondae gukbap and naejang gukbap and this free soondae.

I'm gonna tell you more about our trip to the Gochujang Village next time.

Damyang

This pictures were taken before the fall season. I thought i already posted about this place. When i tried to check my post, i found out that it is saved as draft..waaahhhh...

It just came to my mind when we went back there last week. Damyang is very famous of its Daenamu (Bamboo forest). But the place became more popular because of these trees.

Specially when they filmed here the movie hwaryohan hyuga.

Wedding in Korea

My hubby's co-worker got married three weeks ago, then two weeks ago was his friend's wedding and it was last week when we also attended his cousin's wedding. We recieved 3 invitations in 3 weeks. Yaiiikkkss...Let's blame the weather here because it's very cold and everyone needs a human blanket.

Like most koreans, all of them got married at the wedding hall.

Guests don't wrap a gift for the bride and broom because at the entrance of the wedding hall are the members of the family giving small envelopes to the visitors. After putting some money, they will give you a ticket for the reception. The wedding ceremony only last for 30 minutes, i think. After hearing the lines of the preacher, bow down to the parents, cut the cake, then comes the picture taking with family and friends.

You can go at the reception anytime which is mostly located in the same building of the hall as long as you have the food ticket. Here's the food that we had at the reception.

falling star?

Our apartment has a view because we live on the 20th floor of an apartment building. We see the view of downtown and we sometimes see some fireworks specially when there's an occasion or a concert held downtown. When my hubby showed me this picture in my digicam, it bothers me a lot if it is a firework or what. He said he took it last Sunday afternoon while i was sleeping. I'm just wondering what it is. I just laughed at him when he said that it's a falling star. hehehe...It was taken around 5p.m. so how could it be a falling star? Besides, i don't remember if i've ever seen a star here in Korea. Well, i don't think that it's a firework, either. What on earth is this?

Beach near the park

It was our second time to visit Namhae Sports Park. We've been there maybe a year ago if i'm not mistaken. Actually, i've just deleted some pictures of the park on my cellphone that i've taken when i first went there. That time, we didn't see the beach just next to the parking lot. We only saw it last time when we were supposed to leave the park and go for a drive to find more sightseeings.

The beach is great so we stayed there for a while and relax.

bandwidth

Because i always post some pictures here, i think i need more bandwidth space so i'm thinking of buying my own domain. But i don't know how to start and which domain i have to subscribe. Any suggestions that you can give is highly appreciated! Thanks!

sport betting

We always feel sad and gloomy on Sunday night. It's the time that me and hubby hate the most. Well, not only us but others, too. I heard from my friends and co-workers that they feel the same way, too. Maybe because we have to face to whole week again working and wishing that the whole day at work will not be ruined.

On Sundays, before it gets dark, we always think of something that will make us happy or at least make us busy. We usually go to the restaurant, rent a dvd or walk around the neighborhood. In my neighborhood, there's this huge building that we always wonder what people do. There are many cars parking in the street just because there is not enough space for the parking lot. So, we went inside and asked the worker about it. She said that the place is for sport betting. A horse racing that is only seen at the big screen.

Instead of going in that place, i just think sport betting online is better specially now that the weather is too cold. Bet365 is a casino online where you can download over 80 games. Start playing now and get up to £100 bonus in free chips to start you off.

Namhae Sports Park

Besides from the sea and beautiful landscapes, one of the famous tourist attractions in Namhae is the sports park which is one of the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan training sites. Namhae Sports Park is equipped with foot ball ground(lawn ground), baseball ground, basketball ground, central park, indoor swimming pool, and Namhae Sports Hotel.

Here's the Namhae bridge that connects Namhae Island with mainland Korea in the province of Kyongsangnamdo.

Here's the baseball park where we watch the game for a short time. It wasn't interesting because the players are not good enough.

Here's the view in the park.

Worldcup Stadium

A memorable experience happened when we went to the Worldcup stadium in Daejeon.

When we went inside, there was a man taking some pictures of the stadium and when he went out, he locked the door. He made fun of us! We went around the stadium and looked for an exit but we couldn't find it. We stayed inside for a long time waiting for someone to come in, or at least a worker but nobody came.

We were hopeless and there was no choice but to call 112. Yes! Hubby called the police. hehehe... After a few minutes, the officer came and opened the door. Whenever we think of that experience, we just laughed. Well, that's a memorable experience, isn't it?

Namhae

Namhae-gun used to be an isolated place that could be reached only by ship so people made this bridge so that they can enter the small island.

I've been to Namhae once, but we only went to the sports park and didn't wander the place. So, when i hear someone talking about the beauty of Namhae, i just nod and doesn't say anything because i think it's just like other places that i've been to. Nothing different, until when i went back there again two weeks ago and saw the fantastic view of this place.

Now, i can agree to what other people say about Namhae and i'll add it to one of the wonderful places here in Korea that i always recommend to when someone asks some good places to visit.

tobi

Christmas comes once a year. And one of the spirits of Christmas is giving. Well, have you already gone shopping for Christmas? Or are you also a busy woman who doesn't have time to go shopping like me? Or a lazy woman who doesn't want to go in this freezing weather. Well then, nothing to worry about because there's a shopping online where you can find the items that you are looking for. Trousers, bags, shoes, boots or dress for you, nudie jeans for hubby and cosmetics or beauty bars for your mother and sister in laws. See? Everything is here.

I love jeans and it's too expensive to buy here in Korea. Besides, all the jeans have the same sizes in lenght and they just cut them when you buy. After cutting them, the shape or form has already changed. So when i saw this new arrival low rise cords jeans and the seven for all mankind bootcut jeans, i've got interested to them. And i'm sure nudie jeans will fit well to my hubby. I also like the dress and tank top. Whoa, i wish i could buy them all.

If you are saving money for Christmas or don't have enough budget to shop, check out the sale products here with Free shipping and easy returns.

Gughwa in Gochang

Two weeks ago, we went to Gochang to see the Gukhwa "chrysanthemum" (flowers) that bloom in fall. Gochang County (Gochang-gun) is a county in North Jeolla Province, South Korea. It is a rural area. The temple of Seonunsa and the Dolmen is also located here. (I went to Dolmen in Gochang before i came to the blogging world so i didn't get any picture of them. You may want to check out the Dolmen in Hwasun.)

I was amazed to see this 300,000 pyeong (pyeong=3.3058 square meter) of Gukhwa in Gochang. But what amazed me more was the entrance fee is free even the parking lot. Wow!

We also saw some people selling Chrysanthemum tea. It is a flower-based tisane made from chrysanthemum flowers.

And foreigners from different countries selling native products.

I also saw kids had fun riding this while wandering the place. Of course, this one is not free. hehehe..

Hubby asked me what i wanted to eat so i chose alttang.
