Rain, rain, go away

It's raining again. It rained a few days ago and I thought that was the last rain in fall season. But when I woke up this morning, it was cloudy and the rain drops before I left home. It's good that it's not windy although it's raining so it's not so cold. It's dark now and it makes me feel sleepy. It's really a great time to sleep or lie down on the sofa while watching TV or reading books. Ahhh, too bad that I have work today. Luckily, my boss is not here so here I am blogging or else I will fall asleep.

Do you like rainy season? Well, I don't! It makes me sleepy and I hate carrying an umbrella. I even don't wanna look wet. But do you know that most Koreans love rain? My hubby is one of them. He said it's so romantic to walk in the rain. Hmmm... I think so but I think it's more romantic if you stay home with your loveone watching TV while drinking hot coffee. What do you think? Which one do you prefer?

Lotus Village

We went out for a drive and we saw this Lotus village located in Aewol area. It's near the Dorok Elementary School in Aewol. I didn't bring my camera when we first went there. I like the place so the next time that we decided to go for a drive again, I told hubby to visit the Lotus Village so I could take some pictures.

The weather changed so fast so the Lotus flowers looked a little bit wither unlike the first time that I saw them. Anyway, they don't look so bad and the place is really good.

It's so relaxing and I feel like I was making a filmed while walking in this wood path where there lots of lotus flowers surrounded me. I wanted to stay for a long time but we had to leave the place because my hubby was hungry and needed to have something to eat. I wish I brought something to eat before we went there. It's a perfect place for a picnic, isn't it?

Lotus flower Village is not only a best place to relax but also the best to work out. There are also some machines use to exercise or have a foot massage. Take off your shoes and start to get a foot massage for yourself for free.

If you're a Korean or can understand Korean, then read this to get more information about the Lotus Village. Actually, the words are too hard to understand even when you are a Korean. hehe..

Jejudo Won the N7W

Almost 10 years since I first came here in Jejudo. At that time, I've mentioned to my hubby that I wanted to live here. You know the reasons why. Just a week ago when the Korea claimed that Jejudo is one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. Check out the pictures of my post in Jejudo and you'll know why it became one of the N7W. Congrats Korea and Koreans specially to Jeju residents. Btw, I voted for Jeju by phone. hehe..

Jejudo is like a paradise. Many tourists say that it looks like a small Hawaii. The island is most famous for korean honeymooners. It is also famous for foreigners specially Chinese and Vietnamese. It is famous for its beaches, volcanoes, mountains, walking course, and nature. It also feels like you are living in another country because it's far different from the mainland although it has two cities, the Jeju City and Seogwipo City. Both are also famous for tourists sites.

My hubby and I came here in Jejudo a few months ago and decided to stay here for a year. We love Jejudo!

Hamdeok Beach

It was our plan to have a trip on the road coast. Our first route was supposed to be the Samyang Black Sand Beach but we missed our way so we ended up to Hamdeok Beach. It was raining when we arrived there so we just went out of the car when we went to the bathroom. We just stayed in the car under the trees.

There were many trees next to it so you you can have shelter when it's summer or when it rains. It's a good place to have a picnic under the trees while enjoying the beach.

It was raining so I couldn't get closer to the beach but just watching the waves and the beautiful view of the sea made me feel relax. The sea is quiet even it rained.

Is it a house? A restaurant? or a lodge that built by the sea? Whatever! I can say that it has a great view.

Gimnyeong Beach

Don't forget to drop by to Gimnyeong Beach when you visit Gimnyeong Maze Park and Manjanggul. The two famous tourist sites are very close to Gimnyeong beach. The beach has a resting area where you can go to the bathroom, have some drinks or snacks, etc. I saw a group tour bus and some cars parked at the resting area when we went to the beach. Even when it's fall, people came to visit the beach.

What's unique about Gimnyeong Beach is the color of the sea. The clear waters are highlighted with cobalt-blue. The water is clear and it has smooth and clean sand.

It's fall here so there's no one swimming at the beach but still there were lots of tourists.

The wind farm is also close here. Can you see the windmill?

A korean man brought his dog at the beach.

The dog must be a beach-lover.

Halla Arboretum

Halla Arboretum or Halla Sumogwon (in Korean) is a perfect place to take a walk specially if you want to escape the noise from the City. It is in Jeju City Yeondong 1000. So after going shopping in the city it's great to drop by the place and relax while enjoying the beautiful flowers and trees.

Don't you like taking a walk where there are flowers around you? Ah, it feels like walking in Wonderland.

There are also animals like deer, birds, etc. Can you find the deer?

Weee, the bird! Is it pregrant? hehe..

You can also do some exercise here.

Here's the Halla Arboretum Guide Map. Check out which place you want to see or where you want to take a walk.

Gimnyeong Maze Park

Located in Donggimnyeong-ri, Gujwa-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju-do, Gimnyeong Maze Park is another worth-seeing site in Jejudo. Before you enter the maze, you will be welcomed by the small falls and flower garden.

Yes, it's so fun although we got dizzy finding the exit. We were about to give up and find the entrance to go back but even the entrance was hard to find. You can't even use different way or crossed the maze by jumping through the plants like what we did in greentea maze but these one is too high to jump and there's no other way out. We walked and walked and finally found the exit.

It was raining but tourists were not bothered to find the exit. Everyone were tired. Some were hopeless and disappointed. There were some that we met three times because they couldn't find the exit like us. See that bridge? That was the exit! The bell that I wanted to ring! Oh, I envy those people over there.

This other bridge deceived me. I thought it was the exit but it wasn't. But at least it made me feel a little relieved because I could take a rest and see the whole maze.

This is the whole bridge that I've mentioned above.

Oh yes, do not kiss here! hehehe...

Ooopppsss... surprised!!!

Manjanggul Lava Tube

Manjanggul cave is a 7.4km-long lava tube locally with multi-level structure. It is one of the largest lava tubes in the world having a main passage with a width of up to 18m and a height of up to 23m. Numerous lava tubes are found worldwide, but Manjanggul Lava Tube is an outstanding example because it has a well-preserved passage shapes and internal micro-topographic features in spite of its very old age. Thus the cave possesses significant scientific and conservation values. Three entrances to the cave developed due to collapsed of the ceiling, with the Second Entrance being the one used by tourists. A variety of lava formations and decorations, such as lava stalactites, lava stalagmites, flowlines, lava benches, and lava rafts are present. The 7.6m-high lava column is known to be the largest lava column in the world.

Manjanggul has an open entrance exposed by collapse of the ceiling. Debris from rockfalls is thus distributed near the entrance. The temperature difference between the inside and outside of lava tube has led to the growth of unique vegetation and living organisms. The first section of the lava tube starting from the entrance is largely divided into the upper and lower lava tubes, each stretching approximately 900 meters and 1.5 kilometers, respectively. Due to safety reasons, the first section remains closed to the public.

When lava flows in a tube, the level of the flow is often recorded on the walls. These features are called lava flowlines. Numerous flowlines are found in Manjanggul Lava Tube, indicating that the level of the flows was falling continuously inside the active tube.

In Manjanggul Lave Tube, large and small passages occur repetitively. Continuous supply of hot lava into the tube causes thermal erosion of the tube's floor whereas the lava can be accreted on the tube-ceiling, resulting in the irregular height of the tube. Near narrow passages, Manjanggul opens up into a section with wider and higher ceilings. The dome-like topography of the ceiling is called a "cupola".

Seongsan Ilchulbong

The Ilchulbong is a tuffcone formed about five thousand years ago by an eruption in shallow sea. The tuffcone was an island shortly after the eruption but became smaller after thousands of years of wave erosion. The eroted materials were transported southwestward and deposited along the eastern shore of Jeju Island. The tuffcone became eventually connected with the main island, resulting in the present coastal landscape.

The vertical and spiral-shaped pillar of rocks surround the climbing path of Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone. In the time of hydrovolcanic activities which created this tuff cone, the pyroclastic (ash) deposits of the tuff cone margins had steeply inclined near the crater rim and piled up. Raindrops on the deposits forced a flow down the slope, and the deposits eroded over time, that creating a land that appears deeper than the ground itself.

It says that the legendary spirit dwells in Deung-Gyung Stone so please refrain from any acts that interfere with the viewing. People in the village of Seongsan Deunggyeongdol (Limp Rock) or Jinggyeongdol. Villagers have a custom of bowing four times when passing by. In olden days villagers had ancestral rites and prayed for prosperity of the village and for families to live in peace.

There is a huge crater at the top of Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak. The crater is about 600m in diameter and 90m high.

They said that the sunrise from the crater is magnificent so we climbed up early morning to watch the sunrise but we weren't lucky enough because it rained the night before we came. We only saw this.

Here's the view from the peak of Ilchulbong.

The view of Uido Island from Ilchubong.

The ridge provides an ideal spot for walks and for horse riding as well.

It was still dark when we climbed up Ilchulbong to see the sunrise but as I said we weren't lucky enough.
